Remodel of a Home by the River

An A-Frame that came into the picture through word of mouth, needing a lot of love and being in a family as a vacation home for generations, was destined to be saved. We demolished off a lot of rot, added new footings, reframed walls, decks, support structures, and beams. Re-sheathed the whole building with water resistant plywood, then wrapped all the walls 36” up where standing snow would sit to further waterproof the home after seeing where the past water damage was and then added heavy vinyl cedar shakes to again waterproof and maintenance free the home. All new windows and doors were necessary for a remodel of this caliber, all new multi-level decks, improved the fire escape from second floor and gave them a NY window balcony/deck with hidden drainage through front fascia. Everything on the home is maintenance free except having to treat some Thompsons once a year on deck boards. What a transformation! It went from one of the roughest houses on the street to the envy of the neighborhood.
